Get Your IFR Ticket Now!!!
If you are interested getting your instrument rating, there is no better curriculum than Coast Flight Training’s 10-Day IFR Course, according to recent graduate, Eric Midby. For those considering this type of training, me, being a proud graduate of the 10-day course, would testify that this is the most economical way to get your ticket. Even though Coast Flight’s IFR course was one of the most mentally and physically demanding things I have ever done, it left me with a sense of accomplishment, self-confidence and pride. Due to Coast Flight Training and my success, a whole new world of aviation has opened up to me.

Will Dryden, President of Coast Flight Training, told me flight training in San Diego would be to my benefit, because it is located so close to the ocean; therefore, I would gain first-hand knowledge and experience flying in actual IFR conditions. San Diego is notorious for being clear with unlimited visibility one minute, and then the next minute, being fogged in. Doing IFR training in San Diego is definitely a setting that helps you thrive because it instills confidence and aptitude for individuals wanting to fly IFR all over the world.

Cirrus vs C141 Starlifter in the Middle East, written by Jeff Bushnell
"Follow the river through the Khyber Pass and then the road as it branches off to Jalalabad. It will lead us to the Kabul International Airport," said Elvis Presley’s father-in-law, as he consulted his tactical pilotage chart. Yes, our navigator was LtCol Joe Beaulieu, Priscilla Presley’s father. LtCol Beaulieu, known as “Trader Joe” for his ability to show us the best shopping throughout the Middle East, was very familiar with this route. We were flying on a State Department support mission to the Middle East and Southwest Asia in the 1970’s long before the current problems in the region.

This conversation came vividly to mind as I exited Coast Flight’s Cirrus after my SR22 check out from Will Dryden. I started flying with the Air Force in 1970. After graduating from pilot training, I was fortunate enough to fly the C141 Starlifter on missions around the world bringing me to over 60 countries on all continents, except for Antarctica. The differences in the navigation systems of the 2 aircraft completely amazed me. The dual Garman 430 GPS’s, multi-function display, and flat panel primary flight instruments, provided me with more information than I could have ever dreamed of in 1975.
